How far ahead can I make caramel apples?

For my daughters birthday party I am making caramel, chocolate, and candy apples for party favors and I was just curious If I can make them1-2 days before the party and if so should I refrigerate them?

and what about cupcakes? Since I am making them the night before should I refrigerate them too?

Thanks so much!

The apple are best made the day of the event. Make the basic caramel coating and then have all the rest of the ingredients available so they can customize their apples.

They taste better fresh.

Cupcakes are excellent made the night before and refrigerated. Bring to room temp before icing.

You can make anything ahead of time and place in the refrigerator or freezer.

Candy/caramel apples make the day ahead of time and cupcakes can be frozen unfrosted with no problems or refrigerated unfrosted. And just frost the day of party. For the chocolate dipped apples why not let the kids dip their own if your willing that is. And if not these too can be done a few days a head of time.

if you soak you apples in ice and lemon juice first (only about 30min) to keep them from browning you can certainly make them 1-2days in advanced…. even a few days more that than. But you should place the apples in the fridge but make sure they’re in a Tupperware or glass dish, basically just keep them in a container so they don’t soak up the rest of the smells in the fridge and then you have refrigerated tasking candy apples. As for as the cupcakes they don’t need to be place in the fridge.

I worked at an apple orchard and we made caramel apples all the time. They can be made 2 -3 day ahead of time. There is no reason to soak them in lemon juice they will not turn brown as the only hole in them is a small one for the stick which will be covered with the caramel. They should not be refrigerated it will mess up the consistency of the caramel. They should be kept tightly covered in a cool place. If you store them side by side place a chocolate or candy apple between each caramel apple or the caramel apples will stick to each other.
